I have a 1 TB WD external HD that won't mount. I connect it via firewire to my MacBook Pro running OS 10.13 High Sierra. My mac sees the drive, it just won't mount. I've also tried to mount it via USB, but again, my system sees the drive, but won't mount it. Does anyone have any suggestion what I can do?

Mybook won't mount My Mybook worked fine then one day decided not to anymore. I plugged it into my macbookpro and the light on the mybook started FLASHING but didn't mount. So i tried it on the iMac, the same result. Then i randomly tried a nearby lacey drive power supply which fits the mybook - NOW IT WORKS FINE!!! This is the second power supply I've had problems with with the western. Jan 07, 2019 Solution 1: Run Disk Utility to repair the WD external hard drive. No matter what problems you are meeting on a disk, First Aid is your first choice to repair it. Step 1: Launch Disk Utility. Step 2: Choose the unmountable WD external hard drive. I am not booting from the WD drive. I am booting from my internal drive. But when I plug the WD drive into one of my USB slots, the disk does not mount. I visited 'My computer' where the disks at least show up in the list. The WD drive shows up here, seems fine. But if I try to mount it (as a secondary disk), it refuses to. Thanks for responding.
